Sharon Osbourne is helming the project and she says the film opens with when she met the Black Sabbath singer before going on to explore their relationship in depth.

She told Variety: "It starts the day we meet and will focus on how our lives were totally different but very similar in ways: I was brought up by a powerful, successful father (Black Sabbath, ELO and Small Faces manager Don Arden) and Ozzy was brought up extremely poor and somewhat abused.”

The drama is currently in the scripting phase and Sharon insists it won’t focus too much on rock and roll debauchery.

"It's definitely going to be a tearjerker,” Sharon explained. “It's not going to be a sex-and-drugs movie at all. Ozzy is so much more than that. I would hate to be a cliché."

Elsewhere in her Variety interview, Sharon spoke of her legal wrangle with concert-venue giant AEG.

Ozzy and Shared filed a federal lawsuit over a policy that allegedly requires acts booked to play the AEG owned O2 in London to also play another of their venues, the Los Angeles Staples Center.

“There is no other 20,000-seater in London, so we want to play it,” explains Sharon. “But some little dweeb behind a desk is going, ‘No! You have to play this building if you play that building.’

“I don’t honestly know (if we’ll win the lawsuit). I don’t care. You know what it is? ‘F*** you! These artists are people. This is their life.’”

Ozzy Osbourne headlined the Sunday night at Download Festival last month.
